About Hotel 9 Atop
Late Sonam Gyatso was one of the renowned Mountaineer of Sikkim (India). He was the first Sikkimese Summiteer to climb the world’s Highest Mount Everest on 22nd May 1965, and set a world record for spending 50 minutes at the highest point on Earth. He was the oldest person to climb the Mt. Everest at the age of 42 years on 22nd May 1965.
It was also a world record to placed 9 (Nine) indian climbers on the summit of Everest, in four separate assaults; a truly remarkable performance. Hence, hotel 9 Atop has been contemplated to remember these nine legendaries from india.
